Relaxation massage promotes relaxation, sedates the nervous system, encourages sleep, relieves stiff and tired joints. Long term benefits of having massage will lower blood pressure, improve circulation and improve muscle suppleness. This treatment can either be taken as a full body massage or a back, neck and shoulder massage.
Deep Tissue Massage:
Deep tissue massage is designed to relieve pain and muscle tension. This type of massage is beneficial because it reaches the deepest layer of muscle, fascia (connective tissue surrounding the joints and tendons) The goal is to break down adhesions (areas of tension in the muscle). These are important to address as they cause pain, inflammation and limit motion of the muscles and joints.
Deep tissue massage can help alleviate pain, recover from injuries (sports, whiplash, trauma), increase mobility, decrease muscle tension, recover from repetitive stresses such as sports, computer use, lifting etc.
This treatment can either be taken as a full body massage or as a back, neck and shoulder massage
Trigger Point Therapy:
Trigger point therapy massage is designed to alleviate the source of the pain through cycles of isolated pressure and release. In this type of massage the recipient actively participates through deep breathing as well as identifying the exact location and intensity of the discomfort. The benefits of trigger point therapy massage are releasing constricted areas in the muscle therefore relieving pain just after one or two treatments. Trigger point therapy is not a miracle cure for chronic pain but it is close! It is usually combined with deep tissue or therapeutic massage.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage:
Lymphatic drainage is a form of massage. Unlike other forms of massage, lymphatic drainage utilises a very light pressure combined with soft pumping movements in the direction of the lymph nodes. Lymphatic drainage is useful for individuals who seem to suffer regularly from common illnesses like colds and flu. It is also recommended for people who lead a sedentary lifestyle of for those who want to reduce puffiness or swelling. Lymphatic drainage massage boosts the immune system, it also has a positive effect on poor circulation and cellulite.
